Jalapeno Poppers

1 lb jalapeno peppers

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1 c cheddar cheese, shredded

6 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled

¼ tsp salt

¼ tsp chili powder

½ c bread or cracker crumbs

Wearing gloves, slice peppers in half lengthwise. Discard seeds and membrane. Mix together cream cheese through chili powder. Stuff each pepper half. Coat with crumbs. Arrange cheese-side up on baking sheet. Bake at 300F for 20 minutes for hot poppers, 30 minutes for medium-hot poppers, and 40 minutes for mild poppers.
